What's on the Series 6.

Tests knowledge of investment company products and variable contracts, such as open-end and closed-end funds, UITs, variable annuities, variable life insurance and 529 plans, along with the account-opening, suitability and communication rules that apply when selling them. Passing it together with the SIE qualifies you to register as an Investment Company and Variable Contracts Products Representative.

Who takes it. Representatives at insurance companies, banks and retirement-plan providers who sell funds and annuities rather than individual stocks and bonds.

Who can take the Series 6?
Sponsorship by a FINRA member firm. Co-requisite: SIE. Representatives at insurance companies, banks and retirement-plan providers who sell funds and annuities rather than individual stocks and bonds.
What score do I need to pass the Series 6?
70%, on 50 scored questions (plus 5 unscored pretest questions you can't tell apart).
How much does the Series 6 exam cost?
The exam fee is $100, paid when you enroll for the exam. It's separate from the price of the course.
