Why people fail

Most people who fail didn't study too little. They studied blind.

FINRA exams reward knowing the right material cold, and knowing that you know it. Series Ready is built around the three mistakes that sink first attempts.

They studied what isn’t tested.
How we fix it. Every lesson maps to an item on the official content outline, and the course spends its time the way the exam does. On the SIE, 44% of the questions are about products and their risks, so that’s where the most chapters are.
They couldn’t tell if they were ready.
How we fix it. Every chapter earns a green, yellow or red light from a full 30-question quiz. You always know which chapters are solid and which ones would cost you points on exam day.
They memorized answers, not concepts.
How we fix it. A 90-question bank per chapter, reshuffled answer choices and an explanation for every question mean you learn why. A reworded question on exam day won’t throw you.
The method

Four steps from day one to exam day.

Every chapter follows the same loop, so you always know what to do next and never wonder whether you're ready.

  1. 1

    Learn it

Read or listen to the chapter. Plain-English lessons, worked examples, exam tips and interactive visuals for the hard math.

  2. 2

    Lock it in

Drill the chapter’s flashcards: every term, rule, deadline and dollar figure the exam likes to ask about.

  3. 3

    Prove it

Take the 30-question chapter quiz. 80% or better turns the light green; anything less shows you exactly what to fix.

  4. 4

    Rehearse it

Sit the timed midterm and a full-length final under real conditions, on questions you’ve never seen.

5.2Price and Yield: The Inverse Relationship

Why prices move opposite to interest rates

Suppose Maria's friend Daniel buys a newly issued DEF Corp. 5% bond at par, so it pays him $50 a year. A year later, interest rates in the market rise, and new bonds of similar quality now pay 6%, or $60 a year. No buyer will pay Daniel $1,000 for $50 of annual interest when $1,000 buys $60 elsewhere. If Daniel wants to sell, he must accept a lower price, low enough that the buyer's overall return matches what new bonds offer. If market rates had instead fallen to 4%, Daniel's 5% coupon would be more attractive than anything new, and buyers would pay him more than par.

That story is the core rule of bond investing: bond prices and interest rates move in opposite directions. When market rates rise, prices of existing bonds fall. When market rates fall, prices of existing bonds rise. The coupon never changes; the price adjusts so the bond's yield keeps pace with the market. This leads to three simple relationships:

  • When market rates are higher than a bond's coupon, the bond trades at a discount.
  • When market rates are lower than a bond's coupon, the bond trades at a premium.
  • When market rates equal the coupon, the bond trades at par.
Exam tipExam tip

Many questions hide the price and give you two yields instead. If yield to maturity is higher than the coupon, the bond must be trading at a discount. If yield to maturity is lower than the coupon, the bond must be trading at a premium. If a question says yields rose by 25 basis points, the bond's price fell.

Market interest rates rise after ABC Corp. issues a 5% bond at par. What happens to the price of the existing bond?

Our first-try standard

When Series Ready says you're ready, you're ready.

We don't measure success by hours logged. We measure it by one result: passing on your first attempt. So the course holds you to a higher bar than the exam does.

  • Every chapter green. 80% or better on a full 30-question quiz, a clear margin above the real passing score.
  • A passing midterm, taken against the clock.
  • 80% or better on the full-length final, twice, on questions you've never seen, timed and weighted like the real thing.

Meet that standard and you walk into the test center having already beaten the exam, more than once, under real conditions.

Plan it

How soon can you be ready?

Tell us how much time you have. We'll map the course onto your calendar, from Chapter 1 to booking your exam.

Estimate per chapter: read it (and re-read the hard parts), drill the flashcards, take the 30-question quiz, review your misses. Then the midterm once and the final twice, with a review after each.

Series 66: Uniform Combined State Law

A combined state law exam that, paired with the Series 7, lets you register as both a securities agent and an investment adviser representative.

Combines the state law material of the Series 63 with the adviser material of the Series 65: securities regulation, ethics and fiduciary duties, plus investment products and client strategies. Law and ethics make up 45% of the exam. Candidates who also hold the Series 7 can register as both an agent and an investment adviser representative without taking the 63 and 65 separately.

Who takes it: Series 7 representatives who want to offer fee-based advisory services alongside brokerage.

The difference

Most prep makes you choose. We don't.

A textbook alone can't tell you if you're ready. A question bank alone can't teach you why. Series Ready puts both in one place, plus the tools that tie them together.

Built right

Accurate. Current. Built from the source.

Mapped to the official outline

Every chapter is tied to specific items on FINRA’s published content outline, so nothing tested gets skipped and nothing untested wastes your time.

Current to 2026

Updated for recent rule and exam changes, including T+1 settlement, FINRA’s new $300 gift limit and the move to 5 unscored pretest questions.

Fact-checked before release

Every chapter goes through a separate accuracy audit against the rule text before it’s published, and we revise the course when rules change.

Written from scratch

Original lessons, questions and visuals written for today’s exams, not recycled from an old book with a new cover.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything you need to know before you start.

Is this enough to pass on its own?
Yes. That's what it's built for. Each course covers every topic on the official outline with a full textbook, thousands of practice questions, flashcards, and a midterm and final that mirror the real exam. Follow the readiness standard (every chapter green, then 80% or better on the final twice) and you'll have covered everything the exam tests, and proven it.
How long does it take?
Plan on roughly 53 hours for the SIE and 78 hours for the Series 7, including quizzes, reviews and practice exams. The study planner above turns that into a target date for your schedule.
Do I need a sponsor to take the SIE?
No. The SIE is open to anyone 18 or older without firm sponsorship, and a passing result stays valid for four years. The Series 7 does require sponsorship by a FINRA member firm, and you'll need to pass the SIE as well.
Can I listen instead of reading?
Yes. Voice mode reads every lesson aloud. Click any sentence to start from there and set the speed anywhere from 0.5× to 2×. Flashcards can be read aloud too.
What score do I need to pass the real exam?
The SIE passes at 70%, and the Series 7 at 72%. Our green light starts at 80%, so you prepare to clear the line with room to spare.
Are the practice questions like the real exam?
They're written in the same style: four choices, often built around a customer scenario, testing whether you can apply a rule rather than just recall it. The midterm and final use the real exam's question count, time limit and topic weighting, drawn from a reserved bank you won't have seen in chapter quizzes.
How long do I have access, and is it a subscription?
You get 12 months of full access for a single payment, starting at $79. There's no subscription and nothing renews automatically.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Series Ready runs in your browser on any phone, tablet or computer, and your progress follows your account from device to device.
What if the exam or the rules change?
We track FINRA rule changes and exam updates and revise the course when they happen. Because the course lives online, updates reach you automatically.
Is Series Ready affiliated with FINRA?
No. Series Ready is an independent study provider. Our courses are built on the publicly available FINRA and NASAA content outlines and rules, but we are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by either organization.

Your license starts with one exam. Pass it the first time.

Everything you need is in one course: the textbook, the narration, the questions, the visuals, and a clear signal when you're ready.
